Abdallah was low on confidence when he joined the Restart Scheme with Ingeus in Birmingham. He was assigned Aalia Mahmood as his Job Coach.
Abdallah attended his first Restart Scheme sessions knowing very little English, having only completed Entry Level 2 ESOL. During this session, he also stated that he had never had an interview and did not have a CV.
To help improve his English language skills, Aalia referred Abdallah to an Entry Level 3 ESOL class, as well as to English and Maths classes, via Ingeus’ Local Integration Team. Abdallah enrolled with CECOS Training and continues to attend English and Maths classes with them, having now achieved all ESOL levels.
Aalia helped Abdallah create his CV. To ensure it was up to par and competitive, she utilised the CV Checker tool on iWorks, with Abdallah's CV scoring above 80%. Abdallah began applying for jobs with this CV and has had several callbacks, including a couple of interviews.
The Restart Scheme has really improved Abdallah’s confidence, and to build on his progress, he has secured his CSCS Green Card through the Integration Team’s in-house partnership with Forward Step Training.
Abdallah had his FLT (Forklift Truck) licenses but mentioned that they needed to be renewed. The Integration Team referred Abdallah to 4KS Forklift Training, who will assist with funding his refresher course.
Despite having already completed his ESOL with CECOS, Abdallah attends the in-house ESOL at Ingeus Birmingham on Thursdays to keep his language skills sharp.
Abdallah wishes to continue building his English and Maths skills, as his future goal is to move away from warehouse and construction work and secure a career in Customer Service.
