Ezatollah faced significant challenges when he began his journey on the Restart Scheme. After an incident in Afghanistan where his legs were set on fire, he suffered a severe disability that made finding work in the UK incredibly difficult.
In September, Ezatollah joined the Restart Scheme and was assigned Tao from Reed in Partnership as his Job Coach. Unfortunately, Ezatollah’s Universal Credit claim had been closed because he couldn't read his journal, which had requested an updated fit note. As he was completely illiterate, he was unable to manage this task on his own.
Using an interpreter, Tao explained every condition and sentence to Ezatollah, helping him re-apply for Universal Credit. Additionally, Tao assisted Ezatollah in applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) due to his disability, something he had never done before.
Tao also booked two-hour appointments twice a week to support Ezatollah with the administration tasks of his applications. This dedicated support enabled Ezatollah to secure financial support while recovering from his injuries.
Without the Restart Scheme and the exceptional support from Tao, Ezatollah would have been left without funds and without anyone to help him navigate financial applications and interpretation needed. Thanks to this support, Ezatollah is now on a path to financial stability and recovery that is most suitable for his current circumstances.
