In July this year, the Restart Scheme held 10-day work experience sessions for Restart Scheme Participants at their offices for West Central and Wales. The aim of the sessions was to support the Participants by giving them valuable work experience that they can include on their CVs when applying for jobs.
The 10-day sessions took place from 10am-1pm in three offices; Coventry, Birmingham and Cardiff. Each day, Participants were allocated to a different mentor from the Restart Scheme team.
Throughout the 10 days, the Participants were able to experience different job roles from the Employer Engagement, Training, Partnership, Social Value and Operations teams.
The day was split between work shadowing to finding out more about the job roles, followed by completing tacks related to the role.
Suki Gill, Social Value Lead on the Restart Scheme, organised the days and wanted to ensure that the work experience was varied and hands-on, rather than just shadowing. By completing tasks, the Participants were able to research and get a feel for the different roles available on the Restart Scheme.
