Skills Bootcamp In Sustainability

Skills Bootcamps aim to help those aged 19+ to enter employment, upskill or change career and are open to adults who are full-time or part-time employed, self-employed or unemployed, as well as adults returning to work after a break. Serco will be working with the Mayor of London to deliver Skills Bootcamps in Championing Sustainability in the Workplace to the London area.

Programme Details

Transitioning to a green economy requires a workforce with an understanding of the green skills agenda. The starting point for many organisations is to help those involved to develop a sustainability mindset to support their businesses to use resources efficiently and sustainably.

Our Skills Bootcamp in Sustainability has been developed to give businesses the knowledge and understanding to support the development of sustainability practice within the workplace.

Upskill members of the workforce to take on additional responsibilities or a new role advocating the green agenda or further improve your organisation’s knowledge and understanding to support the development of sustainability practice.

Eligibility

You may be eligible to access funding for your employees to undertake this Skills Bootcamp if they:

  • are aged 19 or over.
  • have the right to work in the UK.
  • live in the Greater London Authority Region.
  • meet the pre-requisite criteria for the course (minimum Level 2 English, and completion of a sustainability skills assessment as a benchmark of prior experience and understanding).

Cost

If you employ someone you would like to upskill to take on additional responsibilities or a new position within your company, then you may be able to access funding towards the cost of the training (subject to eligibility below). You will be asked to contribute £400+VAT (10% of the course price) for small and medium sized companies (under 250 employees), or £1,200+VAT (30% of the course price) for large companies (250+ employees).

Introduction to Net Zero is a course which gives a succinct overview of what net zero means as a response to the climate crisis and how it can be delivered within organisations. It is delivered over four parts that make up this course and provides learners with a basic introduction to the concept of net zero. 

IEMA Environmental Sustainability Skills for the Workforce.

A practical introduction to environmental sustainability, ensuring learners are equipped with the knowledge, understanding and

motivation to make a positive difference within their organisation. This course is perfect for those working in any job role across all sectors, to ensure that environmental sustainability is embedded into all job roles of a company.

IEMA elements are assessment through an IEMA online assessment.

NOCN Level 3 Award in Sustainability in the Workplace.

The purpose of this qualification is to equip learners with the knowledge and understanding of sustainability to work effectively in their sector of industry. This Level 3 qualification provides learners with knowledge of sustainability in the workplace, particularly in the following four areas:

  • Procurement
  • Design
  • Energy Usage
  • Resource Management.

NOCN The assessment will be completed at the end of the course and is graded pass / fail. 

It consists of two elements: 

  •  A report on sustainability in the workplace
  •  A Sustainability Action Plan relevant to the learner’s place of work.
