Connor was unemployed and finding it difficult to manage his anxiety. He also struggled with his confidence when meeting with new people. Connor was advised to join the Restart Scheme in May 2024, with Ingeus in their Dudley office.

Joining the Restart Scheme, Connor met his Job Coach, Colette. After speaking at their first meeting, Colette noticed Connor’s anxiety and enrolled him onto a Skills-Tu Life course, which is a specialist provision course offered by Intuitive Thinking.

Covering various challenges that people face to improve their wellbeing such as low self-esteem and difficult circumstances, the course proved to be a catalyst for some excellent change and growth. Almost overnight, Connor transformed from a shy person, into a vibrant and charismatic character.

Colette discovered that Connor had a passion for cars and identified a welding course that was in line with this interest. Connor is now enrolled onto this course, and once completed, he will look for employment or start his journey to being a self-employed welder.

Connor said:

“When I first started on the Restart Scheme with Ingeus, I didn’t know what I wanted to do and I didn’t feel confident in finding work. Now I have a plan, and I feel optimistic about my future!”
