A New Dawn: Faiza's Journey to Independence

19th Feb 2025 Restart Scheme

Faiza arrived in the UK from Pakistan on a spouse visa but faced issues due to a difficult marriage. Facing domestic abuse and isolation, she moved to Birmingham. Overwhelmed by anxiety and depression, Faiza joined the Restart Scheme. She was assigned Ashish from Ingeus as her Job Coach. Struggling with English, Faiza was enrolled in ESOL classes to improve her language skills.

Ashish's support extended beyond language training; he helped Faiza prepare for job interviews, build her CV, and provided advice on professional attire. Her hard work and resilience paid off when she secured a position as a shop assistant at a local convenience store.

Faiza is now thriving as a shop manager, working 14 hours a week. She has successfully completed her ESOL Entry Level 1 and is diligently working towards her Entry 2 qualification. Her ultimate goal is to pursue a career in hair and beauty, and she is determined to achieve her dream once she meets the necessary ESOL requirements.

Faiza's transformation is a testament to the power of connection and the transformative impact of the Restart Scheme. She credits Ashish for his support as her dedicated Job Coach, which has empowered her to rebuild her life and become independent. As Faiza continues her journey, she is determined to overcome any obstacles and create a brighter future for herself.

Faiza said:
"I am incredibly grateful to Ashish and the Restart Scheme for giving me the opportunity to change my life. With their support, I have gained the confidence to stand on my own two feet and pursue my aspirations."
