Restart Scheme
Francesca started her Restart Scheme journey in February 2024. Francesca had lost confidence as she was receiving frequent knockbacks while looking for a new job. She had a few unsuccessful interviews and many rejected or ignored applications. Francesca was assigned Tonia Shepherd from Pathway Group as her Job Coach.
With prior experience in team leading, management, and extensive customer service, Tonia aimed to identify what was hindering Francesca from achieving her desired goals. Francesca wanted to return to a managerial position, however, doubted her potential and was applying for entry-level roles instead. At first, Tonia’s attempts were met with resistance, as Francesca didn’t understand why she had been referred to the Restart Scheme. Tonia spent time with Francesca to explain why the Restart Scheme was suitable for her and then went on to tailor a plan of action specific to Francesca’s needs.
Francesca’s CV was reviewed and amended, with Tonia supporting Francesca to create a professional LinkedIn profile and ensured that the newly updated CV was uploaded to all relevant job search sites.
Francessca, under the guidance of Tonia, began to regain her confidence and soon felt ready to apply for leadership roles again. In particular, she had her sights set on a Front of House Team Leader role at Lutley Oak (a pub restaurant) in Halesowen. Before submitting her application, Francesca sought Tonia's assistance in refining her expression of interest, ensuring it was as compelling and effective as possible. With Tonia’s help, Francesca submitted the application and received an invitation interview!
With the help of Tonia, Francesca was able to prepare thoroughly for the upcoming interview. From arranging suitable interview attire to rehearsing answers and discussing her key employment achievements. Tonia also offered techniques to manage Francesca's pre-interview nerves, and even arranged for a taxi on the interview day to eliminate any travel-related stress.
Francesca's hard work paid off as she aced the interview and secured a full-time Front of House Team Leader role at Lutley Oak. She has been employed for a while now and was able to celebrate her birthday with her first holiday in a long time, enjoying her new role and the financial freedom it brings.
