Restart Scheme

Stacey secures role at Student Finance Wales through the Restart Scheme

5th Aug 2024 Restart Scheme
Stacey became a participant in the Restart Scheme with Mon CF in Anglesey in June 2023. At her initial meeting with her Job Coach, she expressed a concern about transportation, as she didn’t have a driving licence and public transport options were limited.

Following her first meeting on the Restart Scheme, Stacey was enrolled by her Job Coach into the NHS Step into Work Program; a collaborative program with Mon CF, aimed at helping participants embark on a career within the NHS. The program provides comprehensive training, application assistance, and online education.

Stacey engaged actively with the Step into Work Program, successfully completing various courses and modules which were instrumental in enhancing her job-hunting skills, improving her CV, gaining new qualifications, and undergoing training. She also participated in several job clubs and practised her interview skills through mock interviews.

Stacey decided not to continue with a role in the NHS but used what she had learned and applied for a hybrid role at Student Finance Wales as a Student Finance Advisor. Stacey was successful with her application and commenced her new job on March 25th, splitting her work week between 2 days in the office and 3 days at home. To assist her transition into her new role, the Restart Scheme provided funding for appropriate work attire, shoes, a desk, and a chair, ensuring she was prepared for her first day. Stacey had to travel to Llandudno for her induction training, with the Restart Scheme helping to cover travel costs. In order to facilitate her commute, Mon CF extended financial support for Stacey's driving lessons. She subsequently passed her driving test and bought her own car!

Stacey has now comfortably settled into her new job and is doing great – congratulations Stacey!
