The Restart Scheme helps a Welsh carer to manufacture a new career

Furthermore, public transport in his local area only ran during daytime hours, which reduced his options for work.

Cardiff | Despite an impressive ten years of experience in Retail, and numerous transferable skills, Charlie* was under-selling himself by only applying for entry-level roles. It was quickly identified by his Serco Job Coach, Elliot, that Charlie’s CV was too modest and needed to highlight his excellent communication skills and supervisory experience gained when he provided cover in sister stores.

Abby says even with an extensive project management background, she was a "frantic mess" during her 10-month job search and hit brick walls left, right and centre. But with the right type of support from the Restart Scheme, Abby’s confidence grew within four weeks and she accepted a role in Business Support at a local authority.

Powys | Living in temporary accommodation in a remote local wood in mid-Wales, with limited access to public transport, limited Wifi and no phone signal; John* faced multiple barriers to work. Sophie, his Remploy Job Coach, assessed John's needs and devised a personalised coaching and training plan. And as their rapport built, John opened-up about his real passion for cooking, and explained he had previously worked as a Chef and wanted to find similar work.
